How can professional certifications help you with your business?

We have assembled a panel of Professional Organizers who have invested in certification in various areas related to Organizing and Productivity.

Join us to find out what industry certifications complement the Organizing profession, why these professionals made their choices, the various ways these certifications benefit their businesses, and what it takes to attain them.

  • Helen Ingwersen is a member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM)
  • Lauren Mang is a Certified Virtual Professional Organizer and is a former Evernote Pro
  • Maria Best has various NAPO certificates
  • Joan McCreary is a Certified Professional Organizer with a specialty in helping people with Chronic Disorganization (CPO/ICD)

We’ll have a lively discussion where we will also invite you to ask questions as well as weigh in on your experiences with certifications.

Helen Ingwersen:
Twenty-five years ago, Helen Ingwersen downsized from a 3 bedroom, 3 bath home to VW camper where she lived for 10 months with her husband and two children.  That experience of downsizing, coupled with her love for organizing, led her to senior move management in 2013, when she started TOP Move Management, LLC with her partner, Julie Feldmann. For the last 12 years, she has worked as a solo entrepreneur and with a team of employees.  TOP Move currently has a team of 7, who all love helping people who are moving, downsizing or just trying to get a little less clutter in their lives.  She has NASMM’s Senior Move Management Certification and the A+ Accreditation. 

Lauren Mang:
As a compassionate, kind, and mindful organizer with a focus on holistic organizing, Lauren helps clients discover the FUN in the fundamentals of organizing. After a decade in the Fine Arts industry, living in New York, London, and Los Angeles, she relocated to San Francisco, started Let Me Organize It and joined NAPO in 2014. She has held many volunteer roles through NAPO National and her local chapter, including: POINT Committee Chair and Member, Holistic SIG co-leader, and Director of Marketing. Her other professional interests include public speaking, local volunteer opportunities, and writing her blog and kids book series on organizing.

Maria Best:
With previous career endeavors including nonprofit and senior living, Maria began her professional organizing business, Looking For Space, in 2019. Located in Salinas and serving Monterey County, Maria enjoys helping people develop habits, create systems, and prime their environments toward fulfilling their Why. Maria is also a certified Purpose Workshop facilitator with the Blue Zones Project as well as a certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.

Joan McCreary:
Joan McCreary is a Certified Professional Organizer and owner of JMPO, a successful estate and home organizing business, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Joan comes from a background in startup medical companies, charter schools, and the mortgage industry. She now specializes in working with the chronically disorganized, seniors and estate clear outs. Joan is a member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO), the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD), ProVisors and other professional groups.
